Linse Capital has raised a new $75 million early-stage fund as the San Juan, Puerto Rico-based venture capital firm increases its focus on companies developing technologies across industries including artificial intelligence, robotics, energy, defence and space.

The new vehicle, known as Linse Ignition, has been raised alongside another $75 million in co-investment vehicles, giving the firm additional capital to support companies as they develop and scale.

New Fund Focuses on Early-Stage Companies

Linse Ignition is designed to support companies at the earlier stages of their development.

The fund forms part of Linse Capital’s broader multi-stage investment strategy, which allows the firm to back businesses from seed funding through later growth stages and ultimately toward exits.

The firm operates early-stage investments through its Ignition funds while using separate flagship funds to target more mature growth-stage companies.

Bastiaan Janmaat Leads the Firm

Linse Capital is led by General Partner Bastiaan Janmaat, who oversees the firm’s investment activities as it continues to expand its deep-tech portfolio.

The firm has positioned itself around technology companies tackling complex problems in sectors where innovation can have significant commercial and industrial impact.

Its investment approach spans multiple stages rather than concentrating exclusively on either early-stage startups or established businesses.

Linse Capital Has Raised More Than $1.7 Billion

Since its establishment in 2015, Linse Capital has raised more than $1.7 billion across its investment programmes.

During that period, the firm has backed nine growth-stage companies and 14 early-stage businesses.

The latest fundraising therefore represents another step in a strategy that has increasingly focused on companies developing advanced technologies with applications across major industries.

The Firm Has Built a Broad Deep-Tech Portfolio

Linse Capital’s investment activity extends across several technology-driven sectors.

Its areas of interest include space technology, robotics, energy, mobility, defence and artificial intelligence.

The firm has also invested in companies that have become prominent names in the technology and aerospace industries, reflecting its focus on businesses developing products and infrastructure around emerging technologies.

SpaceX and Skydio Are Among Its Investments

Among Linse Capital’s growth-stage investments are SpaceX, Skydio, Impulse Space and Verkada.

These companies operate across areas ranging from space transportation and satellite technology to autonomous systems and security technology.

Their presence in the portfolio illustrates the firm’s preference for businesses working on technologies that can reshape established industries or create new markets.

$75 Million in Co-Investment Vehicles Adds More Firepower

Alongside the $75 million Linse Ignition fund, Linse Capital has raised $75 million through co-investment vehicles.

These vehicles provide additional capital that can be deployed alongside the firm’s primary investment funds.

Together, the new financing gives Linse Capital greater flexibility to increase its exposure to companies that meet its investment criteria as opportunities emerge.

A Continued Bet on Deep Tech

The fundraising comes as venture capital investors continue to pay close attention to technologies capable of transforming sectors such as energy, transportation, defence and computing.

For Linse Capital, the new fund reinforces a strategy it has pursued since its creation in 2015: identifying companies working on technically demanding problems and supporting them across different stages of growth.

The firm is now positioned to continue deploying capital into the next generation of deep-tech businesses through Linse Ignition and its wider investment platform.
