Len Cloete, the father of seven, shot by police at a lodge in Muldersdrift in November last year, is now recovering at home in a wheelchair.

In a video of the incident that has gone viral on social media, a naked Len is seen shouting at the police. He takes a firearm out of the bed drawer and cocks it while swinging it around in front of the police officers.

Len is then seen grabbing a firearm from a police officer.

Another police officer at the scene fires a single shot and hits Cloete in the head. He falls to the ground.

Len Cloete’s wife, Chantel, made the following post:

“Never before I did the emotional eating. Normally I just stop eating. Last night I had so much chocolates. So today, I am ignoring the scale. Just a bit of humor in my life. Honestly, I am so afraid – please pray for Len Cloete – he is in ICU – with ammonia.

“Loving Father, touch him now with Your healing hands, for I believe that Your will is for him to be well in mind, body, soul and spirit. Cover him with the Most Precious Blood of Your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, from the top of his head to the soles of his feet. Cast anything that should not be in him.”

The Independent Police Investigative Directorate said there was no reason to arrest the officer following the shooting in Muldersdrift.

Ipid spokesperson Grace Langa said they are investigating a case of attempted murder.

“There is no reason to arrest at this stage,” Langa said earlier this year.

Last month, Chantel said the entrance to their home was blocked for the safety of their family.

“Len’s right side is badly affected, but we are working on it. His left side is strong. He speaks a little words -but he will be in a wheelchair. He got hurt very badly. But I still believe by his stripes (God), he is healed. The road will be hard, but I have the best co-workers – friends – workers – family – that will support me and get Len to get strong again as possible. Please, I know everyone cares, but we all have to adapt to our new journey, and we all miss my husband and kids, their father – everywhere we see his Ghost (Body) walking around – his energy was overwhelming.

“His ability to live his life every day to the fullest. His jokes and family time – there is so much of him. If you knew him, you had the honour to know one of the best men God ever created. (no, I am bragging ) I miss him so much my heart is completely broken. But I know Len is still with us, and God has a plan, and I trust him and surrender.”
