It’s Coachella season, and while the stages are packed with star-studded performers, the real show might just be happening in the crowd.
Kylie Jenner and Timothée Chalamet showed up to the music festival in Indio, California, holding hands and looking loved-up—or at least that’s what it looked like at first glance.
But according to a body language expert, there may be more going on beneath the surface of their high-profile relationship.
Even though they tried to squash recent breakup rumors with some sweet festival PDA, their vibe still came off as… well, slightly off.
From Tennis Awkwardness to Festival Flirtation
The couple recently made headlines for a somewhat uncomfortable exchange during a tennis match at the BNP Paribas Open. That moment stirred up plenty of gossip about whether their romance was on the rocks.
Fast forward to Coachella, and they seemed determined to quiet the speculation by turning up together and being openly affectionate. But even amid the crowd, with Kylie bouncing to the music and Timothée behind her, something didn’t quite click.
“All the Heavy Lifting”: Kylie Takes the Lead
Body language expert Judi James weighed in after watching clips of the pair shared on social media.
She pointed out that Kylie seemed to be the driving force behind most of the physical affection.
Judi described Kylie as “a focused and insistent lover” who knows how she wants to express her feelings.
Timothée, on the other hand, came across as more passive—going along with things but not really initiating or matching Kylie’s energy.
Dancing Queen and the Reserved Plus-One
In one of the clips from the festival, Kylie was seen fully embracing the Coachella spirit—dancing freely, flipping her hair, and getting into the music.
Meanwhile, Timothée stood directly behind her, not quite joining in the fun.
According to Judi, he looked more like “an awkward dad at a kid’s party” than a guy vibing with his girlfriend.
While Kylie danced energetically, Timothée simply nodded to the beat and kept a respectful distance, with his hand resting on the railing rather than on Kylie.
A Kiss and… A Bongo Tap?
Another video showed the couple in a more intimate position—Timothée had his arms wrapped around Kylie from behind as she leaned back for a kiss. But even that moment felt a little out of sync.
Judi observed that although Timothée did kiss her, he was also the first to pull away.
Things took a slightly strange turn when, instead of continuing the affectionate moment, he started tapping on her pelvis like a bongo drum. Yes, really.
He then began to step away, only for Kylie to grab his hands and pull them back.
Timothée finished the moment with two light pats on her backside—something Judi called a “ritual of disengagement.”
Body Language Tells a Different Story
In Judi’s eyes, these moments tell a bigger story about their dynamic.
While Kylie appears confident and openly affectionate, Timothée seems more reserved and possibly more private.
That contrast, she says, creates a bit of an imbalance.
“At this point in a relationship, you’d expect to see more spontaneous, flirty interactions,” she explained.
“But Timothée’s responses feel measured—like he’s trying to keep things low-key while Kylie is turning up the heat.”
So, Are They in Sync or Not?
All in all, the verdict from the body language breakdown is a bit of a mixed bag.
Kylie clearly enjoys the spotlight and doesn’t hold back when it comes to public affection. Timothée? He might be feeling a little overwhelmed by it all—or maybe he’s just not the PDA type.
Either way, if their goal at Coachella was to silence the gossip, they might’ve done the opposite.
Sometimes body language speaks louder than words—and in this case, it’s saying there may still be a few kinks to work out.
