In the midst of his ongoing divorce, King Misuzulu kaZwelithini, the monarch of the Zulu Kingdom, has revealed the much-anticipated details of his upcoming third wedding.
Despite the turbulence in his personal life, the King’s wedding plans have captured the public’s attention.
Details of King Misuzulu’s Royal Wedding
The Zulu King is set to marry his third wife, Queen Nomzamo Myeni, in a ceremony that will mark his first traditional Zulu wedding.
The announcement of the wedding dates was made public by Prince Simphiwe Zulu on behalf of the King.
The royal wedding will take place at the Shembe church on January 26, with a family gift exchange ceremony, known as uMkhehlo, scheduled for January 24.
This ceremony will be held at the home of the Myeni family, where Queen Nomzamo hails from.
The Traditional Zulu Wedding Details
As part of the traditional celebrations, King Misuzulu and Queen Nomzamo will participate in the uMkhehlo ceremony on January 24.
On January 25, there will be a brief pause in the festivities, as the King and Queen are aligned with the Nazareth (Shembe) faith.
The much-awaited traditional marriage ceremony, known as Umgcagco, will then take place on Sunday, January 26.
This significant event will be attended by members of the royal family, Amakhosi, and invited guests to witness the royal union.
King Misuzulu’s Divorce Drama
In addition to his wedding news, King Misuzulu is also embroiled in a shocking divorce saga.
According to reports from African Times, the King has filed for divorce from one of his wives.
The filing, made at the Pietermaritzburg High Court in KwaZulu-Natal, cites an irreparable breakdown in the marriage.
Court documents obtained by the publication indicate that as part of the divorce settlement, King Misuzulu has proposed paying his wife R20,000 per month in maintenance for a year following the divorce’s finalisation.
The documents also reveal that the couple has been living separately for over a year.
