There’s been a lot of chatter recently about Monnapule Saleng possibly signing with Kaizer Chiefs.
According to reports from SoccerLaduma, the talented 27-year-old may have already agreed to a pre-contract with the Soweto giants.
While this hasn’t been officially confirmed yet, it’s definitely got football fans and insiders talking.
Benedict Vilikazi Isn’t Sold on Saleng Joining Chiefs
Among those weighing in is Orlando Pirates’ club legend and all-time top scorer Benedict Vilikazi.
He expressed some doubts about whether Saleng is the right fit for Kaizer Chiefs, especially given how the team is currently playing.
Vilikazi pointed out how Gaston Sirino, once a star performer at Sundowns, hasn’t been able to replicate that form at Chiefs.
He believes this is because Sirino doesn’t have the right kind of support around him.
He also referenced other big names like Khama Billiat and Keagan Dolly, saying their struggles at Chiefs followed the same pattern: “You cannot have a player like Sirino carrying the team alone without good players around him.”
Chiefs’ Team Dynamics Could Be a Challenge for Saleng
Vilikazi went on to say that if Saleng joins Chiefs, he might face the same uphill battle.
The club lacks a strong, cohesive core of players that fit well together like pieces of a puzzle.
According to him, the current team’s “puzzle pieces are scattered,” which means Saleng could end up carrying too much responsibility without enough support.
Meanwhile, Feisal Salum Could Be the Next Big Signing
On another note, Kaizer Chiefs are also reportedly closing in on Feisal Salum, a long-term target for the club.
The midfielder, 27 years old, has apparently made Chiefs his preferred destination.
This news comes as the club’s sporting director, Nasreddine Nabi, recently travelled to Tanzania to meet with Salum.
If all goes according to plan, Salum is expected to join the Chiefs at Naturena in the coming days, potentially marking the club’s first signing of the offseason.
