Governor Bello Denies Assassination Attempt Reports

Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, has refuted reports of an assassination attempt on his life on Sunday.

The governor provided a clarification, asserting that the reports suggesting an assassination attempt on him while traveling from Lokoja to Abuja on Sunday evening were not accurate.

Misunderstanding, Not an Assassination Attempt

Governor Bello explained that what occurred was a misunderstanding involving certain members of his convoy and the military.

He emphasized that it was not a deliberate attempt on his life, and he has already safely reached his destination in Abuja.

Earlier Reports of Assassination Attempt

Earlier reports had claimed that Governor Bello narrowly escaped an assassination attempt on Sunday evening while en route to an official event in Abuja.

The Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Femi Fanwo, was quoted in a statement where he detailed the incident.

Attack Foiled by Quick Security Response

According to the commissioner, the attackers, dressed in military uniforms, ambushed the governor’s convoy and opened fire on his vehicle.

Fortunately, the attack was thwarted by the swift response of security agents who intervened. Fanwo indicated that the incident would be investigated at the national security level.

Call for Vigilance

In light of these events, the commissioner urged the citizens of Kogi State to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the relevant authorities.

This emphasis on vigilance seeks to ensure the safety and security of the state’s residents.
