On January 26, 2025, India marked its 75th Republic Day with a spectacular display of military might, cultural heritage, and national pride in New Delhi.
The highlight of the 90-minute parade was the awe-inspiring performance by the Corps of Signals Motorcycle Rider Display Team, known as “The Dare Devils,” who executed thrilling stunts to a crowd of thousands.
The Dare Devils Lead the Show with World Records and Thrilling Stunts
The Corps of Signals Motorcycle Rider Display Team wowed the audience with their daring feats.
Captain Dimple Singh Bhati made history by becoming the first female officer in the Indian Army to salute the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, while balancing on a 12-foot ladder mounted on a moving motorcycle.
The Dare Devils also achieved a world record in their Three Peak Devil Formation, performed by Naik Jayakumar, Naik SP Mangu, and Signalman Sanket, who executed the longest assisted handstand on the famous Kartavya Path.
Other impressive stunts included the “Bullet Wheelie” and “Tank Top,” with the grand finale being a human pyramid formed by 33 personnel on nine moving motorcycles.
Cultural Performances and Military Power on Display
The Republic Day parade was not just about thrilling stunts.
In addition to the motorcycle displays, a cultural extravaganza unfolded before the audience.
Around 5,000 artists participated in the performance, showcasing over 40 dance forms from across India, each highlighting the country’s rich traditions with props like swords, spears, and drums.
Meanwhile, India’s Border Security Force demonstrated their acrobatic motorcycle stunts, and military and paramilitary soldiers marched, accompanied by music from military bands.
In addition to the cultural performances, the parade also emphasized India’s military strength.
A series of advanced weaponry systems were showcased, including the BrahMos missile, the Pinaka multi-launcher rocket system, and the Akash Weapon System.
The demonstration depicted a synchronized military operation across land, water, and air, featuring the indigenous Arjun battle tank, Tejas fighter aircraft, and the Advanced Light Helicopter.
Indigenous Wildlife Revival and International Relations on Display
One of the highlights was the release of a flotilla of fake cheetahs to symbolize the ongoing wildlife revival project in Madhya Pradesh’s Kuno Wildlife Sanctuary, part of a broader conservation effort for these big cats.
As part of the international engagement, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto made a notable appearance as the chief guest, marking 75 years since Indonesia’s first president, Sukarno, attended India’s inaugural Republic Day celebrations.
Subianto’s visit highlighted the strong ties between India and Indonesia, with a contingent of 342 Indonesian soldiers marching alongside the Indian forces.
Republic Day Celebrations Mark 75 Years of India’s Constitution
The Republic Day celebrations are a significant milestone in India’s history, commemorating the adoption of its Constitution on January 26, 1950.
The grand parade was held on Rajpath Avenue, now renamed Kartavya Path (the Boulevard of Duty) in honor of India’s continued progress since independence from British rule.
The venue has been redeveloped as part of the 75th-anniversary celebrations of India’s independence.
A Moment of National Pride and Reflection
As the parade came to a close, fighter jets, including the Rafale aircraft, soared across the sky in a dramatic fly-past, while regiments mounted on camels and horses marched through the streets, bringing the crowds to their feet.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other top officials watched the parade, with Modi expressing his hope for a stronger, more prosperous India as the nation celebrates its 75 years of independence.
“May this occasion strengthen our efforts towards preserving the ideals of our Constitution,” he wrote on social media.
The event was a powerful reminder of India’s unity and resilience, combining cultural performances, military displays, and a reflection on the country’s progress.
It left attendees proud of their nation’s achievements and hopeful for the future.
