Adams announced his ambition to make New York the “hub of the Bitcoin sector” in a social media post.
Adam’s remarks outshine those of his Miami counterpart, Francis Suarez, who had already stated in a Twitter message that if re-elected, he would collect his first paycheck in bitcoin.
Suarez has already indicated his desire to make Miami a center for bitcoin innovation.
However, Adams upped the stakes by asking for three months’ pay in the cryptocurrency.
“In New York, we always go big, so I’m going to take my first three paychecks in bitcoin when I become mayor,” Adams tweeted.
“NYC is going to be the centre of the cryptocurrency industry and other fast-growing, innovative industries! Just wait!”
