Dick Van Dyke’s iconic Malibu mansion is getting a glow-up just in time for a very special milestone: the Hollywood legend is about to turn 100 this Saturday.
Known for his roles in Mary Poppins and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Van Dyke is preparing to mark the occasion in style, though in true classic Van Dyke fashion, the celebration is expected to be intimate and relaxed.
Poolside Makeover and Party Prep
Aerial photos taken on December 11 show that the pool area at “Vandy Manor,” as fans affectionately call it, is decked out for festivities.
The famous water slide seems to be covered, possibly to protect it during the birthday event.
A white tent now shades the poolside, likely complemented by a temporary floor to accommodate guests.
Fans of Van Dyke’s life got a sneak peek of the setup through his wife Arlene Silver’s Vandy Camp Instagram page.
The outdoor space also features a newly designed theater area, which looks like an upgrade from the previous elevated seating.
Additional sun shades, privacy sails, and even what appear to be solar panels have been installed.
One section of the yard seems fitted for aerial silks, a nod to Silver’s personal practice.
Glimpses Inside the Home
Arlene Silver also shared a peek into the home’s bathroom, revealing a rustic wooden vanity with black hardware and neatly arranged personal care items.
A large wooden-framed mirror hangs above, and the entryway boasts terra-cotta tile flooring, giving the space a warm, timeless feel.
The three-bedroom, two-bathroom home, purchased by Van Dyke in 1986 for $750,000, is now valued at around $7.7 million.
The property offers playful and practical amenities, including a pool with a bar, a water slide, a surfboard, and a boogie board.
There’s also a golf putting green, a dance studio, an art studio, a small patio, and a dedicated entertainment hut.
Life at Vandy Manor
Van Dyke and Silver, married since 2012, enjoy getting around the Malibu community in a golf buggy and vintage caravan.
The 2,226-square-foot property, built in 1973, has been a hub for fun events over the years, including festive Halloween parties.
Earlier this week, the couple stepped out in Los Angeles, giving fans a rare public glimpse.
Van Dyke looked cheerful as he was pushed in an office chair, sporting olive-green slacks, a crisp white shirt, and his signature neatly trimmed beard. Silver trailed behind in casual attire, sharing in the joyous moment.
A Quiet 100th Birthday
Despite all the preparations, the milestone birthday is set to be a quiet affair.
“He wants to be in his room watching Jeopardy! reruns with me,” Silver told People, calling the day a “global celebration of him.”
She shared her excitement, noting that she’s been celebrating Van Dyke for years, particularly since 2011 when she began sharing moments of their life together online.
Silver first met Van Dyke backstage at an awards show in 2006, and their romance blossomed in 2009 after the passing of his longtime partner, Michelle Triola.
They wed in a private ceremony in 2012.
Van Dyke had previously been married to Margie Willet, who passed in 2007 and was the mother of his four children.
Love, Laughter, and a Spoonful of Sugar
At this year’s Vandy High Tea event on November 30, a guest asked Van Dyke what helps his “medicine go down,” referencing his iconic Mary Poppins tune.
Without hesitation, he pointed to Silver: “This lady right here. She makes the medicine go down. These are the best, happiest years of my life. Thank God for her.”
Van Dyke also credited his longevity to healthy lifestyle choices.
“I got rid of booze and cigarettes and all that stuff, which is probably why I’m still here,” he said at the event.
From his classic films like Mary Poppins (1964) and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (1968) to his Emmy-winning sitcom The Dick Van Dyke Show (1961-1966), Dick Van Dyke has left an indelible mark on Hollywood—and now, he’s celebrating a century of life surrounded by love, laughter, and memories.
