Abia State Governor Alex Otti Unveils Global Economic Advisory Council

Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has officially announced the formation of the 19-member Abia State Global Economic Advisory Council (AGEAC), a high-profile advisory body aimed at guiding the state’s economic and investment policies.

Distinguished Members Include Global Leaders and Experts

Governor Otti revealed that the council comprises eminent personalities such as Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Arunma Oteh, and former Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II.

The lineup also includes Chidi Ajegbu, Bolaji Balogun, Victor Onyenkpa, Ifueko Omoigui Okauru, Uche Orji, Ndidi Nwuneli, Chika Nwobi, Olugbenga Adesida, Prof. Ndubuisi Ekekwe, Mazi Clement Owunna, Uzodinma Iweala, Ezinwa Okoroafor, George Agu, Uzo Nwankwo, Chinedu Azodoh, and Benedict Oramah.

Representation from the State Executive Council

Additionally, five members from the State Executive Council will represent the state government on the Advisory Council.

These include Governor Alex Otti, the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice Ikechukwu Uwanna, Commissioners for Budget and Planning, Finance, and Trade, Commerce, and Industry.

Strategic Insights for Economic Development

The AGEAC is poised to serve as a critical advisory body, offering strategic insights and recommendations to shape Abia State’s economic and investment policies.

The appointed advisers will collaborate closely with relevant State Commissioners to address challenges and leverage opportunities for economic development within the region and on a global scale.

Otti’s Vision for Abia State’s Economic Renaissance

Governor Otti emphasized that the formation of AGEAC aligns with his administration’s strategic plan for the overall economic development of Abia State.

He reiterated the commitment to socio-economic re-engineering, aiming to rebuild and reposition the state as an economic powerhouse in Nigeria.

Council Management and Secretariat

The Secretariat of the Council will be led by Mr. Chinenye Mba-Uzoukwu, Principal Secretary to the Governor/Chief Strategy Officer, and Mr. Charles Egonye, Technical Assistant to the Governor.

They will be supported by Mrs. Victoria Onwubiko and Ms. Amaka Okonkwo from the private sector.

Governor Otti expressed confidence in the wealth of experience and expertise brought by the newly appointed members, anticipating their pivotal role in shaping policies that drive innovation, attract investments, and ensure the economic resilience of Abia State.
