Former Vice President’s Aide Condemns Asari Dokubo’s Call to Keep Nnamdi Kanu in Detention

…By Joseph Benjamin for TDPel Media. Daniel Bwala, the media aide to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has strongly criticized former militant leader Asari Dokubo for his recent remarks regarding the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.

Asari Dokubo, in a statement made after meeting with President Buhari last Friday, expressed his belief that Nnamdi Kanu should be held accountable for his actions and should not be released by President Bola Tinubu.

He argued that freeing Kanu would be tantamount to endorsing criminal behavior.

Reacting to Dokubo’s comments, Daniel Bwala took to his verified Twitter account on Thursday to question why the former Niger Delta militant leader was advocating for Kanu’s continued detention.

Bwala pointed out that when Asari Dokubo himself faced prosecution under former President Olusegun Obasanjo, people fought for his fundamental rights and release.

Bwala’s tweet highlighted the apparent contradiction in Asari Dokubo’s position, as he himself had experienced support and advocacy for his freedom during his own legal battles.

The aide’s remark suggests that Dokubo’s stance on Nnamdi Kanu’s detention may be inconsistent with the principles of standing up for fundamental rights.

The exchange between Bwala and Dokubo reflects the ongoing debate and differing opinions surrounding Nnamdi Kanu’s case and the issues of freedom of expression and human rights in Nigeria.
