Former Benue State Governor George Akume Sworn in as SGF: Key Appointment in Nigeria’s Government

…By Dorcas Funmi for TDPel Media. Former Benue State Governor, Senator George Akume, has officially been sworn in as the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).

President Bola Tinubu administered the oath of office to Akume during a brief ceremony held at the council chamber.

Dignitaries Witness the Ceremony

The swearing-in took place in the presence of several dignitaries, including current and former Governors, Vice President Kashim Shettima, President of the Senate Ahmed Lawan, Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan (Head of the Civil Service of the Federation), and Mrs. Regina Akume (spouse of the new SGF).

Akume’s Previous Role and Appointment Announcement

Senator George Akume previously served as the Minister of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs during the administration of the immediate past President, Muhammadu Buhari.

His appointment as the SGF was announced by President Bola Tinubu last week Friday, along with the appointment of Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila as Chief of Staff to the President.
