Simultaneously, in Sao Paulo state, a large-scale raid has been ongoing in response to the killing of an elite police officer.

Initially reported to have resulted in ten deaths, the number was later revised to 14, making it the deadliest operation in the state since 2006.

Governor Tarcisio de Freitas expressed pride in the statewide operation, which is set to conclude on August 28.


The raid aims to apprehend the perpetrators responsible for the death of policeman Patrick Bastos Reis.

Controversy Surrounding Lethal Force
