Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers will face an even bigger challenge when building their squads for the 2026/27 season after Manchester City striker Erling Haaland was handed a record-breaking £15.5 million valuation.
The Norwegian’s price is the highest ever assigned to a player in the history of the game, forcing managers to think carefully about balancing premium stars with value picks across their teams.
Meanwhile, Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has received the largest price increase of any player this season.
His value has jumped by £3 million, taking him to £12 million, while Arsenal centre-back Gabriel has been priced at £8 million, becoming only the third defender to reach that milestone in Fantasy Premier League.
Live Standings Will Transform the Fantasy Experience
One of the headline additions for the new campaign is the introduction of live mini-league updates.
Instead of waiting until matches finish, managers will now be able to watch their rankings change in real time as points are scored.
The feature also extends to global rankings, head-to-head matchups and FPL Cup fixtures, giving players instant feedback on how every goal, assist and clean sheet affects their overall position.
According to the Premier League, the new system is designed to make following Fantasy action more engaging throughout every match.
Bonus Points Will Now Evolve During Matches
Fantasy managers will also gain earlier insight into bonus-point races.
Projected bonus points will appear once a match reaches the 20-minute mark and will continue to adjust throughout the game as the Bonus Points System updates based on player performances.
Although the final bonus totals will still be confirmed after matches, managers will have a much clearer picture of which players are currently leading the race for extra points.
New Price Predictor Aims to Give Managers an Edge
The Premier League has also introduced a Price Change Predictor to help managers monitor the transfer market more effectively.
Using official Fantasy Premier League transfer data, the tool will estimate which players are most likely to increase or decrease in value before daily price updates.
League officials stressed that the predictor serves only as a guide rather than a guarantee, but regular use could help managers make earlier transfer decisions and gain an advantage over rivals.
Squad Management Gets a Major Upgrade
Several pages within the Fantasy Premier League platform have also been redesigned to provide more useful information without requiring extra clicks.
Managers will now be able to view fixture difficulty ratings, ownership percentages and upcoming opponents directly on the Pick Team, Transfers and Points screens.
Once the season gets underway, additional data—including recent form and price movement trends—will also be displayed to assist transfer planning.
Players Can Compare Their Long-Term Fantasy Records
For the first time, Fantasy Premier League managers will have access to career comparison statistics.
The feature allows users to measure their historical performance against the wider Fantasy community by displaying average scores across previous seasons along with percentile rankings among all FPL participants.
The addition offers long-time managers another way to track their consistency beyond weekly scores.
Bonus Point Rules Receive Fresh Adjustments
The Premier League has fine-tuned its Bonus Points System ahead of the new season.
Officials say the changes are intended to reduce duplication between bonus awards and defensive contribution points while creating greater opportunities for goalkeepers, attacking full-backs and offensive players to earn bonus points through their performances.
Defensive contribution points, introduced last season, will remain part of the scoring system.
More Time Before Final Scores Become Official
Fantasy managers will also benefit from a later Gameweek lockdown.
Rather than finalising scores one hour after the last match concludes, Gameweeks will now officially close at 9:00 a.m. UK time on the following day.
The Premier League said the additional time allows Opta’s post-match reviews to be fully incorporated into bonus calculations and defensive contribution points, resulting in more accurate final scores.
Familiar Rules Stay in Place
While several new features have been introduced, many of the game’s core mechanics remain unchanged.
Managers will once again receive two sets of Wildcard, Free Hit, Triple Captain and Bench Boost chips across the season, with the first set required to be used before the Gameweek 19 deadline on January 2, 2027.
Players can also continue carrying forward up to five free transfers.
However, the temporary additional free transfers that were introduced to help managers navigate the Africa Cup of Nations last season have been removed because the tournament will not interrupt the 2026/27 campaign.
Additional Features Round Out the New Season
Fantasy Premier League has also reclassified the positions of 11 players ahead of the new season, potentially creating fresh tactical opportunities for managers.
Another new addition is Adobe Express Gameweek Recaps, which will generate personalised visual summaries highlighting each manager’s weekly Fantasy performance.
With enhanced live data, smarter transfer tools, redesigned squad pages and historical performance tracking, the 2026/27 Fantasy Premier League season promises to deliver one of the biggest upgrades since the game was launched.
