Eight-year-old Aliyah Jaico’s life was tragically cut short in a swimming pool accident at the DoubleTree by Hilton Houston Brookhollow.

Her family is now seeking justice, filing a $1 million lawsuit against the hotel chain.

Attorney Richard Nava, representing the family, revealed that Aliyah disappeared while swimming in the lazy river with relatives.

Search and rescue teams later discovered her body lodged inside a malfunctioning pipe.

Lawsuit Points to Neglected Maintenance

The lawsuit alleges the hotel failed to properly maintain the pool, resulting in a malfunctioning pipe that created a powerful suction force.

Lawyer Nava emphasizes that Aliyah wouldn’t have been pulled into the pipe on her own.

The family holds the hotel accountable for not ensuring the pool’s safety.

Frustration with Hotel’s Initial Response

The family lawyer further criticized the hotel’s initial response to the tragedy.

According to Nava, the hotel initially refused to show them surveillance footage, which later proved crucial in locating Aliyah’s body.

The lawsuit also seeks a restraining order to grant the family access to the pool area for further investigation.

A Mother’s Heartbroken Farewell

Daniela Jaico, Aliyah’s mother, is grappling with unimaginable grief.

She shared a heartbreaking photo on Facebook with the caption “our last photo,” expressing her love and gratitude for her daughter’s short but precious life.

Investigation Ongoing

The Houston Fire Department conducted an inspection of the pool, uncovering multiple violations.

The official cause of death has been ruled as drowning and mechanical asphyxia. A public viewing for Aliyah will be held on Thursday.
