In response to a trending viral video depicting alleged pipeline vandalism in the Aboru area of Ipaja, Lagos, the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service (LSFRS) has stepped forward to address public concerns.
The video, accompanied by a male voiceover urging the authorities to intervene and prevent a potential fire incident resulting from the alleged vandalism, has sparked fear among Lagosians.
Mrs. Margaret Adeseye, the Director of LSFRS, issued a statement in which she urged residents to dismiss the video’s claims, reassuring them that there is no cause for alarm.
Upon receiving the report, the Service promptly mobilized its firefighters to investigate the reported address.

Further investigation revealed that the viral video, causing unrest among the public, actually depicts an incident from the past.
The event in question took place on 30th October 2020 and was effectively managed by the authorities at that time.
With this clarification, Mrs. Margaret Adeseye appeals to the general public to disregard the trending video and continue with their daily activities without fear.

False alarms can lead to unnecessary panic and divert essential resources from genuine emergencies.
The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service’s swift action in investigating the reported pipeline vandalism demonstrates their commitment to public safety and protection.
While it is crucial for citizens to remain vigilant and report potential hazards, it is equally essential to trust in the expertise of emergency services to handle situations effectively.
