Springbok scrum-half Faf de Klerk and his wife, Miné de Klerk, have marked four years of marriage, celebrating the milestone on 1 October.
The couple, who have since welcomed two daughters, commemorated the occasion with a short message shared by Faf on social media.
“4 years of us 🤍 ♾️,” he wrote alongside the anniversary post.
Couple married in Franschhoek
Faf and Miné officially became husband and wife on 1 October 2022 at La Paris Estate in Franschhoek.
Their wedding came several months after the rugby star proposed to Miné, following the couple’s decision to rekindle their relationship.
The pair’s journey to marriage included periods of separation as well as a long-distance relationship.
Their relationship began through mutual friends
Faf first met Miné in December 2015 after they were introduced through mutual friends in Hermanus.
Their relationship developed over time, with Miné later inviting the rugby player to attend a friend’s wedding.
However, maintaining the relationship became more difficult after Faf moved to Manchester in 2017 while Miné worked at her father’s pharmacy in Postmasburg in the Northern Cape.
Distance and lockdown tested the relationship
The geographical distance between the couple, combined with the disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, eventually affected their relationship.
The pair decided to remain friends during that period, temporarily bringing their romantic relationship to an end.
Their separation, however, did not mark the conclusion of their relationship.
Faf and Miné rekindled their romance
By October 2021, Faf and Miné were together again.
Although the couple did not publicly disclose exactly when they decided to rekindle their relationship, their reunion was evident by late 2021.
Their relationship progressed quickly from there, eventually leading to an engagement the following year.
Rugby star proposed in May 2022
Faf proposed to Miné in May 2022.
Sharing the news with his followers, the Springbok celebrated the engagement with a message describing himself as blessed and expressing his love for his future wife.
The engagement was followed by their wedding several months later in the Western Cape.
First daughter arrived in 2024
The couple entered a new chapter of their relationship when they became parents for the first time in February 2024.
Miné had not publicly announced her pregnancy in the same way some other Springbok partners had, but she later appeared at her baby shower showing her growing baby bump.
On 27 February 2024, Faf and Miné welcomed their first daughter, Remi-Ré de Klerk.
Family welcomed a second daughter
The de Klerk family grew again in November 2025 with the arrival of their second daughter, Yuke de Klerk.
The birth made Faf and Miné parents of two young children, adding another milestone to their relationship since their 2022 wedding.
Four years after saying ‘I do’
Four years after exchanging vows at La Paris Estate, Faf and Miné continue to mark major milestones together while raising their two daughters.
Their anniversary celebration comes after a relationship that has included long-distance challenges, a period of separation, reconciliation, engagement, marriage and parenthood.
