Following the horrific Moscow concert hall massacre that claimed over 140 lives, a bizarre narrative is unfolding in Russian media.
Front Page Fury: Blaming the West
The state-owned newspaper Arguments and Facts published a shocking front page featuring images of Western leaders – including US President Joe Biden, UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, and others – engulfed in flames.
A chilling headline proclaimed, “We know the architects of the Crocus City terrorist attack. And we know who organised it.
May they burn in hell.” The article within the paper further alleges a Western plot and dismisses ISIS’ claim of responsibility as “rubbish.”
Accusations Echoed in Other Publications
Another prominent Russian newspaper, Komsomolskaya Pravda, echoed the accusations.
Their headline parroted a statement from Russia’s security service chief, alleging that Ukraine was preparing to welcome the attackers as heroes.
Articles within the paper, filled with “expert opinions,” pinned the blame on the West, with fabricated claims and dubious sources.
Putin Vows Revenge, Blames Ukraine
Russian President Vladimir Putin vowed revenge for the attack and claimed the captured attackers planned to escape to Ukraine.
He made further accusations against Ukraine, suggesting they planned to allow the attackers passage across the border.
ISIS Claims Responsibility
Despite the Russian narrative, ISIS has claimed responsibility for the attack, citing their ongoing war with countries “fighting Islam.”
They released a disturbing video from the attacker’s perspective, displaying the brutality of the event.
The Facts Remain
While Russia attempts to deflect blame, the evidence points to a terrorist attack claimed by ISIS.
Over 140 people were killed and many more injured in this horrific act of violence.
