Budget Boost: Gombe State Assembly Greenlights N208 Billion Plan
The Gombe State House of Assembly waved the green flag for the state’s 2024 budget, amping up the projected amount to a robust N208.064 billion.
Initially pitched at N207.750 billion by Governor Alhaji Muhammadu Yahaya, this upward revision of N300 million has now gained approval.

In a detailed breakdown revealed through a statement by the House’s Chief Information Officer, Mr. Umaru Ma’aji, the Speaker, Abubakar Luggerewo, hailed the collaborative spirit among legislators and their deft handling of the appropriations bill.
Chairman of the Appropriations Committee, Alhaji Aliyu Manu, representing Gombe North, voiced concerns about the limited understanding of budget provisions among officials in various government bodies.
He pressed for better dissemination and comprehension, urging the budget office to streamline communication with ministries to align with the N208.064 billion fiscal plan.

Ma’aji emphasized the budget’s allocations, allocating 11% to the social sector and a substantial 43% to the economic sector.
Termed the “Budget of Continuity and Consolidation,” it underscores an aggressive stance on project completion.

In parallel, the House also endorsed a resolution compelling Gombe North representatives in the National Assembly to champion the cause of the dilapidated Gombe Funakaye – Nafada Road.
This motion, triggered by the House Committee on Works and Transportation’s findings, intends to fast-track federal funding for the long-awaited project.
Insider Insights: Behind the scenes, this push for road maintenance is a clear sign of the Assembly’s determination to improve infrastructure for the state’s populace.
