Nigerian and Watford striker Emmanuel Dennis has strongly denied reports that he does not want to play for Nigeria at the AFCON 2022 tournament.

An online medium (not VON) reported that the 24-year old striker had told Nigerian football officials of his intentions to shun AFCON and instead face club duties.

But in a swift denial, Dennis described the report as false and malicious.

“This is fake news; very false report.

I never said such.

The news is a fabrication by the website and it is totally untrue,” Dennis said.

Nigeria are drawn to face Egypt, Sudan and Guinea- Bissau next February.

Dennis has been in a rich vein of form, scoring six goals and providing five assists in 14 league games for Watford this season.

His poaching abilities has seen him voted Watford player of the month in August and November.

Dennis is also in contention for the Premier League player of the month.
