Elon Musk Reveals Shocking Data Exposing Millions of Dead Americans Still Eligible for Social Security Benefits in the U.S.

Elon Musk has recently shared eye-opening data showing an alarming number of Americans, some of whom are listed as over 100 years old – and even older – still eligible for Social Security benefits.

The numbers are so out of the ordinary that the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has launched an urgent investigation into the potential waste of taxpayer money, following a promise by Donald Trump to reduce federal spending.

The Data That Left Musk Stunned

Musk took to X (formerly Twitter) to post a chart revealing the extent of the issue, highlighting that there are more than 20 million Americans recorded as being over 100 years old.

This includes more than 3.9 million people listed as aged 130-139, over 3.5 million in the 140-149 range, and more than 1.3 million in the 150-159 age range.

One entry even lists a person aged over 360 years old.

Musk jokingly wrote, “Maybe Twilight is real and there are a lot of vampires collecting Social Security.”

These numbers suggest a glaring problem in the records, as Musk pointed out that the Social Security Administration (SSA) holds records for around 60 million people more than the entire U.S. population.

This implies that millions of people – who may either be deceased or possibly never even existed – could still be receiving monthly Social Security checks.

A System That’s Far Bigger Than It Should Be

In 2024, around 68.5 million people were reported to have received benefits from the SSA, including retirement, disability, and other payments.

However, it remains unclear how many of these payments were issued due to fraud or agency errors, such as failing to confirm whether beneficiaries are still alive or meet eligibility requirements.

Elon Musk has been highly critical of the SSA, and he isn’t the only one.

The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) is now looking into the matter, ensuring the investigation is prioritized.

Shocking Details About the SSA Database

According to Musk’s analysis, the ages of U.S. citizens in the database are largely consistent with the national population for individuals under 100.

However, as the ages go above 100, the numbers become increasingly bizarre.

The analysis shows over 4.7 million people aged between 100 and 109.

Musk even found people listed who are reportedly over 360 years old, alongside a person in their 240s, and an extraordinary 1,039 people who are said to be between 220 and 229 years old.

Musk’s data points out that the number of Social Security numbers listed exceeds the population of the United States by a considerable amount.

With only 334.9 million U.S. citizens, Musk pointed out that around 310 million people would theoretically be eligible for Social Security benefits – an impossibility, given that would mean nearly 93 percent of the population qualifies.

Musk’s Call for Action on Social Security Fraud

Musk has been outspoken about his concerns, calling out the Social Security Administration’s flaws, particularly during an Oval Office appearance with President Donald Trump.

At the press conference, Musk said that the Social Security database contained records of people who were “probably dead” but still receiving benefits.

Musk made a tongue-in-cheek remark, asking, “Do you know anyone who’s 150? I don’t. They should be in the Guinness Book of World Records.”

His comments reflect his disbelief at the apparent oversight by the Social Security Administration.

The billionaire entrepreneur made it clear that an audit of the SSA was necessary to address these irregularities and prevent potential fraud.

Musk Targets Federal Waste Across Multiple Agencies

Elon Musk’s investigation into government waste doesn’t stop with the SSA.

The billionaire has already dismantled USAID and gone after FEMA, firing top officials for spending millions on luxury hotels.

Additionally, he’s overseen the voluntary departure of 40,000 federal employees who accepted buyouts in exchange for full pay through September.

Musk has also made significant cuts to federal government contracts, particularly those related to the Department of Education and the National Institutes of Health, in a bid to end certain diversity, equity, and inclusion programs.

It seems clear that Musk’s priorities are focused on reducing government waste and inefficiency, with the Social Security system now at the center of his latest push for reform.

The investigation into the SSA could lead to widespread changes and deeper scrutiny of federal spending practices.
