Extortion of money from individuals for the installation of electrical transformers that were recently freely distributed over portions of Delta Central through the office of the Nigerian Senate’s Deputy President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, has been advised to stop immediately.
According to a statement issued by Comrade Chuks Erhire, the Head of the DSP’s Constituency Office, some people are pressuring and duping residents in various areas to pay various sums of money and fees for the installation of electricity transformers.
The statement which described the act as outright fraud and totally unacceptable by the office implored the people not to pay any money whatsoever to anybody in respect of the installation of the transformers.
According to the statement, the Deputy President of the Senate recognises the importance of electricity to peoples’ homes and businesses, hence his continued Interventions which include the installation of the transformers at no cost to the people.
The statement further adds that the office of the Deputy President of The Senate will not sit and watch the people being fleeced of their hard-earned resources warning that measures will be taken under the law to ensure that the people freely enjoy the DSP’S Intervention to light up communities without illegal burdens.
