Elders in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, prayed for Zweli Mkhize’s ANC candidacy

A special prayer service was performed by a number of religious and traditional leaders in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, for former Health Minister Zweli Mkhize to support his campaign for ANC President.

This comes as the eThekwini area of the African National Congress (ANC) declared that Mkhize and party treasurer Paul Mashatile will serve as president and vice president, respectively.

CONGRESSIONAL LEADERSHIPS PRAY FOR ZWELI MKHIZE

On Thursday, September 22, the prayer was conducted at the opulent Coastlands Hotel in Umhlanga, Durban.

The Digital Vibes affair forced Mkhize to leave as Health Minister, yet it seems that he still has clout in KZN.

A number of provinces have already approved President Cyril Ramaphosa for a second term, and it is not yet known if KZN will follow suit. The ANC will have its 55th National Conference in December 2022.

MASHATILE IS APPROVED BY THE KZN REGION

As was previously mentioned, the ANC Regional Executive Committee in the eThekwini Region called a meeting of chairs and secretaries after the Festival of Ideas that the ANC hosted in KwaZulu-Natal on the 19th and 20th of September and supported Mkhize and Mashatile.

The event, which was vibrant and energetic in character, served as a helpful reminder to fellow comrades that many South Africans are placing their faith in the 55th ANC National Conference’s successful conclusion.

The festival believed that there was a significant public view that the ANC, as the ruling party, was no longer focusing on the genuine concerns of service delivery and improving the lives of the people, according to ANC Regional Spokesperson Mlondi Mkhize.

A new President and Deputy President are required, according to Mkhize’s critical assessment of the festival, in order to refocus the ANC and eventually alter South Africa’s destiny.

In this respect, the chairmen and secretaries decided that Paul Mashatile would serve as the vice president and Dr. Zweli Mkhize would be the future president.

According to the ANC Provincial Executive Committee’s instructions, “for other seats, the REC will contact other regions.”

The festival’s attendees agreed, according to the Regional Executive Committee, that the ANC must continue to be a group that is in touch with the concerns of its members and serves as a catalyst for socioeconomic growth.

“We need leaders who would put forth a lot of effort to revive the old ANC ethos, which ensured that nobody felt excluded from the ANC for whatever reason. We need a leader who will make sure that the ANC continues to be a welcoming place for everyone.
