South African MMA star Dricus du Plessis has once again proven why he’s at the top of his game.
On Sunday, February 9, he stepped into the octagon and successfully defended his UFC Middleweight Champion title against Sean Strickland in a highly anticipated fight.
A Hard-Fought Battle in Sydney
The electrifying match took place at the Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney, Australia, where du Plessis dominated Strickland with an impressive performance.
After five intense rounds, the judges unanimously scored the fight in his favor (50-45, 50-45, 49-46), securing his victory.
Not only did he walk away with the championship belt still around his waist, but he also left Strickland with a broken nose.
It was a clear statement that du Plessis remains a force to be reckoned with in the UFC.
Dricus Was Ready for War
Before stepping into the octagon, du Plessis made it clear that he was prepared to prove himself once again.
Sharing his mindset with fans, he took to social media and wrote:
“Time to prove once again why I am the best middleweight on the planet! Tomorrow we go to war.”
And that’s exactly what he did.
A Fiancée’s Heartfelt Support
It wasn’t just fans who were rallying behind him—his fiancée, Vasti Spiller, was right there showing her unwavering support.
Ahead of the fight, she posted a sweet message on Instagram, sharing a photo of her capturing a moment of him.
“For you, a thousand times over,” she wrote, expressing her love and admiration for du Plessis.
The couple, who got engaged in January, has been celebrating major milestones together.
Earlier this year, du Plessis celebrated his birthday on January 14 with loved ones before popping the big question to Vasti.
She later shared a heartfelt clip of the proposal, captioning it with a verse:
“‘No longer two, but one’ – Mark 10:8.”
