Doctor Who Star Ncuti Gatwa Doubles His Earnings to £1.9 Million Amid Mixed Viewer Reactions in the UK

Doctor Who star Ncuti Gatwa has reportedly seen his fortune soar, thanks to his major role as the iconic Time Lord. At just 31 years old, Ncuti made his debut in the BBC sci-fi series earlier this year.

Despite a dip in ratings, his financial situation is certainly looking up.

According to The Sun, Ncuti’s earnings have doubled to a whopping £1.9 million, adding to the wealth he accumulated from previous roles, including his part in Netflix’s *Sex Education*.

The actor has reportedly paid himself a generous salary of £700,000 from his company, Gemini Moon.

A source close to Ncuti told The Sun that landing a coveted role like the Doctor was bound to boost his career and earning potential. However, there’s some debate about whether his financial success mirrors his success as the Time Lord.

Viewership numbers for the show have been somewhat lackluster, raising questions among fans and critics alike.

Ncuti made his debut as the Doctor in May, with the first two episodes attracting solid numbers of 2.7 million and 3.2 million viewers. Unfortunately, these figures dropped to 2.3 million within a week.

Although later episodes saw a slight increase to 3 million viewers, the series generally maintained around 2.3 million viewers per episode.

A BBC spokesperson commented that overnight ratings don’t fully capture the drama’s viewership in today’s on-demand world.

The spokesperson highlighted that the first episode of this season has already been viewed by over 6 million people on iPlayer and continues to grow.

Fan Reactions to the Finale

The finale of Doctor Who’s fourteenth season, titled *Empire Of Death*, left fans feeling disappointed.

Airing on June 22, the highly anticipated episode revealed Ruby’s mother, but the big reveal fell flat for many.

Fans took to social media to express their frustration, with some describing the revelation as the worst in the show’s history.

Comments from fans included, “The reveal of Ruby’s mother was so underwhelming,” and, “I was expecting a major twist, but it was just a letdown.” Many felt that the season’s buildup did not deliver on the anticipated climax.

What’s Next for Doctor Who?

As for the future of Doctor Who, producer Russell T Davies has stated that no decisions have been made about the lineup for series three. Speaking at Comic Con in San Diego, Davies, who was joined by Ncuti Gatwa and Millie Gibson, revealed that they are still in the midst of filming season two.

Davies mentioned that while season two is shot, there is still a significant amount of post-production work to be done. Thus, decisions about the next series are still far off.

Ncuti, meanwhile, has expressed his enthusiasm for playing the Doctor, even joking about signing up for the next 10 seasons.
