South African Police Service (SAPS) spokesperson Warrant Officer Joseph Swartbooi told The South African that when Labour Department staff arrived at the premises on Thursday morning they found that the office door had been broken.
“Upon inspection, they found that some valuables were taken from the premises. The unknown suspects fled the scene and are yet to be arrested,” said Swartbooi.
The Cape Town Central Police have opened a case of housebreaking and theft for investigation.

KIDNAPPING VICTIM RESCUED
In an unrelated incident, members of the Western Cape Special Task Force rescued a kidnapping victim in Cape Town on Wednesday.
As previously reported, the victim was snatched from a business in McClaren Drive, Du Noon on Tuesday and rescued from a house in Winnie Mandela Road, Langa, the next day.
Four suspects – aged between 22 and 26 – were arrested at the house. They are expected to appear before the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court on charges of kidnapping and extortion in due course.
