David Gandy recently shared his frustration with British Airways after he was separated from his two-year-old daughter during a flight.
In a post on social media, Gandy revealed the family’s struggle when British Airways oversold their flight, resulting in his young daughter being seated alone next to a stranger.
Despite his concerns for her safety, especially in the event of an emergency, Gandy was told by the airline that there was nothing they could do to rectify the seating issue.
A Holiday Turned Sour for the Gandy Family
The model was returning to London with his girlfriend, Stephanie Mednoros, and their two young children after a luxurious stay in Marrakesh.
The family had been vacationing at the Mandarin Oriental Marrakech, a lavish retreat known for its scenic views and privacy.
Gandy praised the resort on his Instagram, highlighting the exclusive pools, 20 hectares of olive groves, and the proximity to Marrakesh’s Medina.
However, what began as a memorable holiday ended with a disappointing flight experience for the family.
Airline Criticism Pours in from Fellow Travelers
Gandy’s tweet quickly garnered attention from others who had similar experiences with British Airways.
One user shared, “I had this exact thing happen to some private customers of mine; a party of eight with children who couldn’t sit together despite pre-booking.”
Another traveler mentioned a similar incident with their five-year-old on a flight from Alicante, suggesting that issues with separated seating are not uncommon on British Airways flights.
Not the First Celebrity Complaint Against British Airways
David Gandy joins a list of celebrities who have voiced complaints about British Airways’ service.
Earlier this year, James Corden spoke out about a turbulent flight from the Algarve to London that required an unexpected stop in Lisbon, leaving young passengers shaken.
Actress Elizabeth Hurley also advised fans to avoid flying with British Airways after she and other passengers were stranded at an airport in Antigua for over 12 hours with no food or water.
In a separate incident, Simply Red’s Mick Hucknall expressed his dismay when his flight departed without him, despite his luggage already being on board.
Will British Airways Respond to Growing Criticism?
With Gandy’s tweet adding to a chorus of criticism from both public figures and passengers, British Airways may face growing pressure to improve customer experiences, especially concerning family travel.
For now, travelers continue to share their frustrations and call for better service from one of Britain’s largest airlines.
