The Obaloran of Ilode-Ife in Ile-Ife, Osun, Oba Saka Olawusi, has hosted kingmakers from Ilodo-Oye-Ekiti in Oye-Ekiti Local Government Area of Ekiti, ahead of the coronation of the new traditional ruler of the town.
Obaloran welcomed the Ilodo-Oye-Ekiti children, who were descendants of Ilode-Ife led by the Ilodo-Oye-Ekiti designate and a former chairman of Oye Local Government, Hon Bamitale Oguntoyinbo.
The traditional ruler described the Yoruba race as the most blessed entity in the world.
While welcoming the descendants from Ilodo-Oye-Ekiti, the Obaloran established their relationship with the kingdom of Ilode in Ile-Ife, which they named theirs as Ilodo in Oye-Ekiti instead.
He recalled that their father related the history to them that Ilodo dynasty originated from Ilode-Ife, the source of Yorubas, so they needed to have cordial relationship with Ilode indigenes.
“Hon. Bamitale Oguntoyinbo came for an event in Ile-Ife about six year ago, when he saw the Obaloran palace, then remembered that his father had related this to him.
“Show love and tranquility amidst yourselves and give due respect to Oloye of Oye-Ekiti stool.
“You are Oduduwa descendants and children of Ooni, your coming home regularly will bridge the gap with and maintain the cordiality.
“Three people left Itajero to Ilodo, Oye-Ekiti some decades ago,” he said
He added that their Royal Father had passed away for the past 24 years in which they needed to install a new traditional ruler for the community.
Earlier, the leader of Ilodo-Oye-Ekiti and the Obalodo designate, Bamitale Oguntoyinbo, thanked the Obaloran for his support, saying the visit was to familiarise with the people of Ilode in his latest capacity.
Bamitale pledged the absolute loyalty and respect of Ilodo land to Obaloran.
“Kabiyesi, we have come here as a matter of responsibility to ask for your blessings as we prepare for the coronation of a new traditional ruler.
“And, we know that the blessings given to us today would go a long way in our lives and on our land,” he added.
The highpoint of the visit was the royal blessing for the descendants and exchange of gifts from the traditional ruler and the visitors. (NAN)
