The College of Policing hired us in February 2022 to gather information and opinions about the usage of virtual reality (VR) headsets in police training.

To do this, 19 experts, including academics and practitioners from the UK and abroad, were consulted after we assessed pertinent literature. Our analysis:

reviewed the locations where UK and international police departments have tried using VR

outlined the available research and factors to take into account for employing VR in police training
