WhatsApp to launch dual-account feature for Android users

WhatsApp is launching a new feature that will allow users to log into two accounts at the same time on a single phone.

The feature is currently being rolled out to Android users and will be available to iPhone users in the coming weeks.

To set up a second account, users will need a second phone number and SIM card, or a phone that accepts multi-SIM or eSIM.

Once equipped with this, you then have to open your WhatsApp settings, click on the arrow next to your name, and select ‘Add account’. There is also the option to set different privacy and notification settings on each account.

The new feature comes just weeks after it was suggested that WhatsApp was planning to make a number of other major changes to its platform, including a revamped interface and conversation filters.

The new dual-account feature is a welcome addition to WhatsApp, and it will be handy for people who want to flick between work and personal accounts without having to carry two phones.
