Alex Cooper, the host of the popular Call Her Daddy podcast, recently took a swipe at Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign after discovering a shocking expense: a $100,000 “cardboard” set used during her October 6 podcast appearance.

The $100,000 price tag for a set Cooper described as “not that nice” left her perplexed.

Cooper, whose podcast ranks fourth in the US, couldn’t understand how such a basic setup could be so costly, especially when her own Los Angeles studio, which she considers “gorgeous,” didn’t even come close to six figures in cost.

“With love to them, it was gorgeous, but it wasn’t that nice,” Cooper remarked, baffled by the extravagant spending.

Harris’ Campaign Spending Draws Criticism

The Harris campaign has already faced significant criticism for its overspending, with a particularly large portion of funds going toward advertising.

According to reports, the campaign spent a jaw-dropping $494 million on ads alone, including $900,000 on a major presidential advertisement at the Las Vegas Sphere.

Cooper’s interview with Harris has also generated its fair share of controversy.

Many listeners accused Cooper of conducting a “softball” interview, avoiding tough topics like illegal immigration and President Biden’s handling of Hurricane Helene, which had devastated the southern U.S. just days earlier.

Despite the backlash, Cooper stood by her decision, explaining that the focus of the election was on women’s rights, making it an important opportunity to speak with Harris, especially since most of her audience is women.

Initially hesitant about discussing politics on her podcast, Cooper felt compelled to meet with Harris, reflecting on her decision with the question: “How as a woman am I not going to do this?”

She also shared that she was proud of her choice, especially in light of the rising threats to women’s rights in the country.

A Missed Opportunity for a Trump Interview

Interestingly, Cooper also revealed that Call Her Daddy reached out to former President Donald Trump’s campaign, hoping to secure an interview.

However, his team declined the offer.

In contrast, Harris’ interview has been watched by over 900,000 people, which, while impressive, pales in comparison to the 52 million viewers who tuned in for Trump’s appearance on Joe Rogan’s podcast.

The financial figures surrounding the 2024 presidential race are staggering.

Harris’ campaign, including affiliated PACs and the Democratic National Committee, raised more than $2.3 billion in political contributions.

Meanwhile, Trump’s campaign and affiliated groups raised $1.8 billion, contributing to a combined total of nearly $4.2 billion spent on the election.

According to Financial Times analysis, this made it the most expensive presidential race in history.

Despite spending less, Trump’s campaign outperformed Harris both in the electoral and popular vote, a feat the GOP hadn’t achieved in decades.
