CAF Champions League: Mamelodi Sundowns Finishes Group Stage With A Win

On Saturday, 2 April, Mamelodi Sundowns defeated Al-Merrikh 3-0 at the FNB Stadium in their last CAF Champions League group stage encounter.

For Masandawana, George Maluleka was given a rare start, while Grant Kekana, Aubrey Modiba, and Bradley Ralani were all given playing time right away.

With a quarter of an hour gone, the Brazilians were rewarded for their early dominance as Maluleka scored his first goal for the club, heading home from Modiba’s corner.

The score was 1-0 in Mamelodi Sundowns’ favor at the halftime break.

When Haashim Domingo released Bradley Ralani in the 66th minute, the Brazilians doubled their lead. Ralani showed composure to finish into the bottom right corner.

Ralani was having a terrific game and turned provider in the 72nd minute, teeing up Kermit Erasmus for a stunning volley into the roof of the net.

Mamelodi Sundowns were unbeaten in the group stages

Mamelodi Sundowns topped Group A with five wins and a tie from six matches, putting them in a strong position to advance to the quarter-finals.

Due to a victory, a draw, and four defeats, Al-Merrikh finished last in the group with only four log points. This win is the last game of their group stage encounter and their fans are happy with their results. This still kept them at the top of the group.
