British woman found knifed to death in Italian home, husband sought by police

A British woman has been found knifed to death in her Italian home, with her murder sending shockwaves through her ‘Little England’ expat community.

The victim, 66, who has not been named, was found with stab wounds to her stomach by her friend inside her home near Casoli, a town in eastern Italy, on Wednesday morning.

Police are now searching for her husband, who is also British, after he allegedly left the scene in the family car before police could question him.

Neighbors heard victim screaming for help

The woman’s lifeless body was discovered in a pool of blood by a concerned friend who had called her that morning but received no response.

Neighbors also reported hearing the victim screaming for help and said they called the police who arrived at the home in the countryside near the Abruzzo village, where 100 British expats live.

Police searching for husband

Police are now desperately searching for the woman’s husband who apparently left in the family car.

The couple had been living in the house for about three years and were described by local residents as ‘very private’. They were often seen walking through the surrounding countryside with their three dogs.

Investigations ongoing

Medical examiners are also running forensic tests to investigate how long the victim was deceased before she was discovered by her heartbroken friend.

The UK’s Foreign Office has confirmed that it is supporting the victim’s family and is providing consular assistance.

This is a breaking news story and we will provide more updates as they become available.
