British Skateboarding Star Sky Brown Dislocates Shoulder on Eve of Olympics, Determined to Participate in Women’s Park Event in Paris

Sky Brown, the promising skateboarder and youngest-ever British medalist, has hit a snag just before the Olympics. The 16-year-old athlete has dislocated her shoulder, casting a shadow over her upcoming participation in the women’s park skateboarding event scheduled for next week.

Sky made history in Tokyo in 2021 when she became Great Britain’s youngest medalist, clinching a bronze at just 13 years old. Now, with the Olympics just around the corner, she’s facing a tough challenge after injuring herself on Sunday, just before heading to Paris.

Recovery Efforts Underway

Despite the setback, Sky is determined to compete. Her team of doctors and physiotherapists are working around the clock to get her back in shape for Tuesday’s event at La Concorde.

This isn’t her first struggle; she’s been recovering from a knee injury sustained in April during a film shoot, which had previously sidelined her from the initial Olympic qualifiers.

Overcoming Challenges

Sky’s resilience shines through her past experiences.

After a knee injury kept her from the first qualifier, she made a strong comeback by finishing second in the women’s park event at the Olympic Qualifier Series in Budapest. Reflecting on her journey, she told NBC, “Every injury I’ve had, I’ve come back stronger.

This is just my time to really think about what I want to do next. It puts a fire in my heart – it happens, it’s part of life.”

Aiming for Gold

With her impressive victory at the 2023 World Skateboarding Championship, Sky is a strong contender for gold. Excitement and optimism are evident in her recent Instagram posts, where she shares her journey with her 1.3 million followers. “What a journey,” she wrote, “I’m thankful for every moment along the way, everything and everyone and all the memories. Now for the fun part… LET’S GO PARIS 2024!!!!”
