British man, 74, drowns on the Costa Blanca after losing consciousness while swimming.

On Spain’s Costa Blanca, a British man drowned after going asleep while swimming in the water.

According to reports, the 74-year-old passed out in the sea at La Ampolla Beach, a beach close to Moraira Castle.

Before paramedics arrived and began doing CPR, lifeguards took him onto the beach and attempted to resuscitate him.

However, they failed to revive him, and he was declared dead at the site.

Around 2 pm on Friday, the incident occurred on Moraira’s main beach, the family-friendly beach, which is around 30 minutes’ drive north of Benidorm.

The tragedy’s specifics are just now becoming known. This morning, it remained unclear if the deceased guy lived nearby or was on vacation.

An ordinary inquiry is under progress. The post-mortem report, which is said to have been completed over the weekend, has not been made public.
