At Least 330 Palestinians Killed as Israeli Airstrikes Target Gaza Cities and Camps Amid Escalating Conflict

At least 330 Palestinians have lost their lives following a series of Israeli airstrikes on Gaza, which have intensified after a prolonged standoff over the ceasefire agreement.

The strikes have shattered weeks of relative peace, as Israel’s military targets, hitting dozens of locations, vowed to continue the assault for as long as necessary.

Hamas Accuses Israel of Truce Violation

The escalation comes after Hamas accused Israel of breaking the terms of the truce that was initially agreed upon in mid-January.

According to reports, the airstrikes have been widespread, with casualties reported across northern Gaza, Gaza City, and other areas in the southern Gaza Strip like Deir al-Balah, Khan Younis, and Rafah.

Palestinian health officials have reported that a significant number of the casualties are children.

Hospitals Struggling with Casualties

In the hospitals overwhelmed by the constant bombardment over the last 15 months, there are harrowing scenes.

Bodies, wrapped in white plastic sheets, have been stacked in overwhelming numbers as the injured flood in.

On social media, footage from the aftermath shows heavy plumes of smoke rising from the ruins of homes, leaving entire neighborhoods in devastation.

Israel’s Response: A Tough Stance

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office responded harshly to the accusations.

In a statement, they blamed Hamas for refusing to release hostages, and for rejecting proposals put forward by U.S. officials, including those of Mideast envoy Steve Witkoff.

Israel’s message was clear: “Israel will, from now on, act against Hamas with increasing military strength.”

U.S. Involvement and Official Statements

In Washington, a White House spokesperson revealed that Israel had consulted with the U.S. administration before carrying out the strikes.

According to the Israeli military, the targets were mid-level Hamas commanders and leadership figures.

Brian Hughes, a White House spokesman, added that Hamas had the opportunity to extend the ceasefire by releasing hostages but chose not to, instead opting for continued conflict.

Strain on Gaza’s Population

In Gaza, witnesses have reported further suffering, particularly in Rafah, where Israeli tanks shelled residential areas.

Families who had recently returned home after the ceasefire were once again forced to flee, heading north to safer areas like Khan Younis.

The situation remains dire, with ongoing uncertainty and escalating violence.
