In an exciting development for both players, Angel Reese and Hailey Van Lith are set to team up once again, this time for the Chicago Sky in the WNBA.
The Sky selected Van Lith with the No. 11 pick in Monday’s WNBA Draft, marking the second time the two will share the court after their time together at LSU.
A Journey Back Together
Reese and Van Lith played alongside each other for a season at LSU, where they reached the Elite Eight.
However, their run ended when they were defeated by Caitlin Clark’s Iowa team.
Though it wasn’t the perfect season for Van Lith, who struggled with her shooting percentage, Reese couldn’t be more excited about the reunion.
On social media, Reese shared her enthusiasm: “We ain’t do it right the first time.
Let’s run it backkkk!” This post followed the Sky’s announcement, which included a graphic welcoming Van Lith to the team.
Van Lith’s Impressive Final Season
After transferring from LSU to TCU, Van Lith made an immediate impact.
She thrived during her final season of eligibility, averaging 17.9 points per game, along with 5.4 assists and 4.6 rebounds.
This performance certainly caught the attention of the Chicago Sky, who wasted no time selecting her in the first round of the draft.
A Mutual Appreciation Between Reese and Van Lith
Reese also took to social media to celebrate their partnership, reposting a photo from their LSU days.
She responded to a comment from Chelsea Gray of the Las Vegas Aces, who reminded fans not to underestimate the No. 11 pick, sharing her own story as a 2014 No. 11 pick.
Reese replied, “Oh we won’t Cap. Thank yaaaa,” showing just how much confidence she has in her former teammate’s abilities.
On her part, Van Lith expressed her excitement about reconnecting with Reese, noting that they’ve kept in touch ever since Reese left LSU for the WNBA.
She highlighted their shared mindset and competitive nature, saying, “She’s a dog, man. She turns up the intensity of everybody around her.”
Both Stars Have Graced SI Swimsuit
Beyond basketball, Reese and Van Lith have another unique connection: both have been featured in Sports Illustrated Swimsuit.
Reese made her debut with the iconic brand in 2023, while Van Lith graced the digital cover ahead of the 2025 WNBA Draft.
For Van Lith, her SI Swimsuit appearance capped off a remarkable year, as she was named the Big 12 Player of the Year and helped TCU make its first NCAA tournament appearance since 2010.
This achievement clearly made an impression on the Chicago Sky, who were eager to add her to their roster.
Looking Ahead to the New Season
With the WNBA season just around the corner, the Sky’s journey begins with a matchup against Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever on May 17.
Fans are eager to see what the dynamic duo of Reese and Van Lith can bring to the team as they embark on their shared WNBA journey.
