American Step Mum Kills Toddler By Feeding Her Batteries, Screws And Nail Polish Remover

In a harrowing incident, a woman named Aleisia Owens stands accused of causing the death of her boyfriend’s 18-month-old daughter, Iris Rita Alfera.

The charges allege that Owens intentionally poisoned the toddler with batteries, screws, and nail polish remover.

Shockingly, Owens had researched the harmful effects of these items on children prior to the tragic incident.

The Suspected Homicide:

Aleisia Owens, 20, was arrested on January 11 in connection with the suspected homicide of Iris Rita Alfera.

The arrest followed an autopsy revealing fatal levels of acetone in the child’s blood, as announced by Pennsylvania Attorney General Michelle Henry.

Events Leading to the Tragedy:

Living with Iris’ father, Bailey Jacoby, Owens was left alone with Iris when Jacoby went to the store on June 25, 2023. Owens later called Jacoby, reporting an issue with their daughter.

Upon his return, Jacoby found Iris unresponsive and immediately contacted emergency services.

Iris was initially taken to UPMC Jameson Hospital and later airlifted to UPMC Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh, where she succumbed to organ failure four days later.

Deceptive Explanations and Autopsy Findings:

Initially claiming that Iris had hit her head, Owens’ explanation contradicted the autopsy results.

The examination revealed that Iris had ingested “water beads,” button-shaped batteries, and a metal screw months before her death. Owens’ phone search history indicated extensive research on household products harmful to children, including water beads, batteries, and nail polish.

Legal Consequences and Charges:

Facing severe charges, Owens appeared in court, accused of homicide, attempted homicide, aggravated assault of a child, and endangering the welfare of a child.

The charges encompass Owens’ alleged actions leading to the baby’s death and prior acts of abuse.

Investigation on Iris’ Father:

While Iris’ father, Bailey Jacoby, had been living with Owens for about a year, the police found no evidence linking him to the baby’s death.

Jacoby was cooperative throughout the investigation, and authorities did not pursue charges against him.

The tragic case unfolds with disturbing details of alleged intentional harm to a helpless child.

Aleisia Owens now faces legal consequences for her alleged actions, as the grieving family copes with the loss of Iris Rita Alfera.
