Afcon 2023 Qualifiers: When is the draw? Bafana Bafana in Pot 2!

Afcon 2023 Qualifiers: When is the draw? Bafana Bafana in Pot 2!

The 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) draw for the qualifiers is upon us, and Bafana Bafana have been placed in Pot 2.

The Afcon finals will be hosted by Ivory Coast who lifted the converted trophy in 2015 under the tutelage of Herve Renard.

Bafana Bafana will get another chance to try and qualify for Afcon – the last time South Africa qualified for the finals was in 2019.

Coached by Stuart Baxter at the time, Bafana Bafana reached the quarter-finals before being knocked out by the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

They failed to qualify for the 2021 Afcon finals in Cameroon which took place at the start of 2022 due to Covid-19.

And Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos understands the importance of qualifying this time around, especially after failing to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

WHEN IS THE AFCON DRAW FOR THE QUALIFIERS?

The draw for the Afcon qualifiers will take place on Tuesday, 19 April 2022 in Randburg, Johannesburg at 19:30 SA time.
