Miss Universe Jamaica 2025, Dr. Gabrielle Henry, is on the road to recovery after a dramatic fall during the Miss Universe pageant in Thailand.
The 28-year-old beauty queen tumbled off the stage during the preliminary evening gown round on November 19, sending the audience into a state of shock.
Immediate Chaos and Emergency Response
Spectators reportedly screamed and jumped from their seats to help Dr. Henry as she lay on the stage.
Social media quickly captured footage of her being wheeled out on a stretcher.
She was rushed to the hospital, and her condition initially sparked concern when her sister, Dr. Phylicia Henry-Samuels, shared that Gabrielle would need to stay in the ICU for another week.
Miss Universe Organization Offers Official Update
On Monday, Miss Universe president Raul Rocha addressed widespread speculation about Dr. Henry’s health in an Instagram post.
Rocha confirmed that she is expected to be released from the hospital soon and praised the care and attention she has received.
He emphasized that updates are being provided with respect for Dr. Henry and her family, and that further details will remain private unless shared by them.
Coordinated Care and Support for the Family
Rocha described his own involvement during the emergency, including entering the stage to assist Dr. Henry, coordinating urgent medical care, and staying with her family at the hospital.
He said additional medical specialists were brought in to ensure thorough assessment and monitoring.
The Miss Universe Organization covered all related costs, from hospital expenses to hotel accommodations and transportation for the family.
Encouraging News on Recovery
“Thanks to excellent medical care, each issue has been successfully resolved,” Rocha said.
“The latest medical report confirms that Dr. Gabrielle Henry is in good health and nearing discharge.”
He also noted that she did not suffer any broken bones from the fall, a relief to her fans around the world.
Context of the Pageant and Incident
The fall occurred during the evening gown round of the competition, which also included swimsuit and national costume rounds.
Miss Universe, now in its 73rd year, is one of the world’s longest-running beauty pageants.
This year’s crown ultimately went to Miss Mexico, Fátima Bosch Fernández.
Recent Pageant Controversy
Bosch previously made headlines after storming out of a key event when pageant organizer Nawat Itsaragrisil publicly insulted her.
Itsaragrisil called Bosch “dumb” during a promotional event, prompting her to walk out in protest.
Several contestants followed in solidarity, turning Bosch into a symbol of courage and empowerment within the pageant world.
A Message of Respect and Privacy
The Miss Universe Organization reiterated that their priority remains Dr. Henry’s care and recovery.
“While unfounded speculation has circulated publicly, our full attention has remained on Dr. Henry,” Rocha said.
“We are grateful that she is now close to being released from the hospital.”
