Sometimes life throws you curveballs, and for Hannah Spearritt, the past couple of years have been a rollercoaster.
After facing some really tough personal challenges, the former S Club 7 star decided to make a big change — she and her family moved all the way from the UK to the lush jungles of Costa Rica.
And honestly, it sounds like that fresh start has been just what she needed to heal and breathe again.
Leaving the UK Behind After Tough Times
Hannah, now 44, made the move early this year with her partner Adam Thomas and their two young daughters, Taya, five, and Tora, four.
The decision wasn’t made lightly. Back in 2023, Hannah was hit hard by the loss of Paul Cattermole — her ex-partner and former bandmate — which shook her deeply.
That heartbreak, combined with a turbulent period of housing instability, pushed her to rethink everything.
The Reality of Life Before the Move
Many people imagine pop stars always live a glamorous life, but Hannah’s story paints a very different picture.
She’s been open about the struggle she and her family went through in 2022, bouncing between four different temporary homes.
At one point, they even slept in a friend’s office because their landlord sold their property and gave them just two days to find somewhere new.
“It was stressful, but you just deal with it, especially with the kids,” Hannah told The Sun.
She also wanted to bust the myth that every popstar is swimming in money.
“People think we must all be millionaires but sadly it’s just not true.”
Why Costa Rica Was the Perfect Choice
Hannah and Adam first visited Costa Rica back in 2018 and fell in love with its natural beauty.
That trip inspired them to open a café in Twickenham in 2022, but unfortunately, rising costs and setbacks meant the café never fully opened.
Eventually, they decided to sell up and pursue a quieter life off the grid in Costa Rica — growing their own food and enjoying the great outdoors.
A Difficult Split From S Club 7
The move to Costa Rica came amidst some drama with Hannah’s old band.
She was set to join the S Club 7 reunion tour but dropped out after a contract dispute.
The rest of the band continued without her, and the split left things pretty frosty.
Hannah was blindsided by the announcement that the group would carry on without her, and she even released her autobiography on the same day the band was scheduled to perform, which added fuel to the fire.
Though she apologized to fans for leaving, Hannah said she had to put herself and her family first.
Since then, she’s admitted she hasn’t really been in touch with her former bandmates but wished them well.
Embracing a New Jungle Life
Now, living in Costa Rica, Hannah is soaking up the simple pleasures — morning walks to waterfalls, watching her kids explore nature, and enjoying stunning views from their new home’s balcony.
On Instagram, she’s shared glimpses of her new life, describing herself as a “prepper, survivalist and creator living the uninhibited jungle life.”
She’s even planning to dive into permaculture and start planting a fruit forest, showing that she’s really committed to this fresh start.
Moving Forward With Hope and Healing
Hannah’s journey hasn’t been easy, but her story shows how resilience and a change of scenery can help heal old wounds.
She’s found a beautiful new home, surrounded by nature, and says this new chapter is helping her recover from a challenging year.
With her family by her side, it seems she’s ready to embrace whatever the future holds — one jungle walk at a time.
