Orlando Pirates look set to make key squad changes with potential departures and new signings as the transfer window continues in South Africa

The transfer window is now well underway, and Orlando Pirates are gearing up for potential changes in their squad.

With more than a week passed since it opened, the club is looking at possible moves, both in terms of new signings and departures.

Two Players Already Departed

Even before the window officially opened, Pirates wasted no time in making changes to their roster.

The club parted ways with two players, sending Katlego Otladisa to Sekhukhune United and Sandile Mthethwa to AmaZulu.

Mthethwa made the move on a free transfer, while Otladisa is now on loan to Babina Noko.

Shandu’s Future Still Uncertain

With the window still in full swing, Pirates are rumored to be considering further departures and acquisitions.

One of the names in the mix is Thabang Matuludi from Polokwane City, but Pirates’ right-back position is already crowded.

This means the club may have to let someone go, and Bandile Shandu seems like the likely candidate.

Shandu has been sidelined by injuries for nearly a year, and although he’s back in training, he’s found it difficult to break into the starting lineup.

With the arrival of Matuludi possibly on the horizon, it looked like Shandu might be on his way out.

However, his agent, Mike Makaab, recently revealed that Pirates have not discussed cutting ties with Shandu just yet.

Shandu’s Agent Confirms He’s Still in Pirates’ Plans

According to Makaab, during a recent meeting with Pirates, the club made it clear that Shandu is still part of their future plans.

Despite his injury setbacks, Pirates are hopeful that Shandu can regain his form and contribute to the team. Makaab explained that Shandu is now fully fit and back in full training.

The Competition for Shandu

If Shandu stays at Pirates, he’ll face stiff competition for a spot in the lineup.

Players like Deano van Rooyen, Thabiso Monyane, and Thabiso Lebitso are all ahead of him in the pecking order.

The arrival of Matuludi could make things even more challenging for Shandu, but it seems the club is not ready to give up on him just yet.

What’s Next for Shandu?

It remains to be seen how Shandu’s situation will unfold.

Will he be given another chance to prove himself, or is it time for Pirates to move on and cash in on his value? Fans are eager to know, and it will be interesting to see what happens as the transfer window continues.

Pirates supporters, what are your thoughts? Should Shandu stay and fight for his place, or should the club look for a new direction? Feel free to share your opinions
