The rider of a powerful motorcycle that was caught travelling double the speed limit had bogus licence plates, no insurance, and an 80+ year riding ban.

When police discovered Jason Flood riding a black Suzuki superbike in Wollongong’s southwest, they claim he still had six decades left on the licence suspension he received in 2001.

Tuesday night, when Unanderra police attempted to pull down Flood, he reportedly raced off, reaching speeds of up to 160 km/h (twice the speed limit), before the pursuit was abandoned.

Flood was travelling at a speed of 100 kilometres per hour while riding a black and gold Suzuki GSX-R1000.

According to the police, they subsequently discovered the bike in Kanahooka on a road and the rider nearby.

The individual is accused of lying to authorities about his identity after being apprehended after a foot chase.

Checks found that the motorbike was uninsured and that he had been prohibited from riding a motorcycle from 2001 to 2082.

According to police, the bike’s licence plates were copied, and its registration had already expired more than two years before.

The guy was also wanted on four outstanding warrants for drug distribution, violence, and other offences in Dubbo and Parramatta in addition to being charged with 10 motorbike-related offences, the chase, and lying.

According to a police statement, “Police will say in court that the number plate on the motorbike was a copy and that the actual registration expired in July 2020.”

He showed up at Wollongong Local Court on Wednesday and was denied bail.
