Arrest of Three Suspects in Edo State Church Crusade Car Theft
In a surprising turn of events, the police in Edo State have apprehended three suspects, Augustine Ikponmwoba (62), Roland Ibizugbe (63), and Blessing Joseph (36), for their alleged involvement in stealing two vehicles during a church crusade.
Tracking Stolen Phone Leads to Arrest
Commissioner of Police, Funsho Adeboye, revealed that the arrests were made after tracking a phone stolen along with the vehicles.
The phone was later discovered in possession of Blessing Joseph, who had received it as a gift from one of the suspects.
Victims Report Car Theft
According to the police commissioner, Mrs. Joy Mordi and Mr. Peter E. Abiwo reported the theft of their vehicles, which were parked at the Garrick Memorial Ground during a crusade.
Upon returning from the event, they found their cars missing.
Confession and Chain of Arrests
During the investigation, Blessing Joseph, in possession of the stolen phone, was arrested. She confessed that the phone was given to her by her boyfriend, Augustine Ikponmwoba.
Subsequently, Ikponmwoba’s arrest led the police to Roland Ibizugbe, completing the trio of suspects involved in the church crusade car theft.
Upcoming Legal Proceedings
Commissioner Adeboye stated that the suspects have admitted to the crime and will face legal charges as they are taken to court.
The police continue their efforts to address criminal activities in the region.
