Following the escape of four (4) inmates from Rooigrond Correctional Facility near Mahikeng on March 15, 2022, the Department of Correctional Services (DCS) and the South African Police Services (SAPS) have initiated a manhunt.
Investigations will be launched, and the circumstances surrounding the escape will be divulged after they are completed.
Zacharia Francisco Nyalimate (Mozambican), who was convicted of housebreaking and murder, is one of the convicts. He has been in prison for 27 years.
Alfred Gwambe (Mozambican) was found guilty of housebreaking, stealing, and keeping a stolen vehicle in his possession. He has been in prison for 65 years.
Siyabonga Sithole (South African) convicted for rape, theft and house breaking and serving a life sentence, and;
Edward Madiba (South African) convicted for robbery, possession of firearm and serving 15 years. Their photos are attached.
The Department is appealing to the public to assist with any information that may lead to the re-arrest of this four. They are considered dangerous and if spotted, information should be shared with the nearest Police Station.
