In a distressing development, Mr. Olumide Openaike, a 35-year-old banker employed at Kemta Oloko in Abeokuta, Ogun State, has been declared missing by his family.

The circumstances surrounding his disappearance have led to heightened concern and a plea for assistance from the public.

WhatsApp Message Raises Alarm

The family’s worry was communicated through a WhatsApp message, indicating that Olumide Openaike had gone missing on his way to work.

The message, shared by concerned individuals, expressed the family’s shock and confusion, emphasizing that such an occurrence had never happened before.

Wife Shares Details and Timeline

Mrs. Openaike, also an employee of a microfinance bank, provided additional details about the events leading to her husband’s disappearance.

According to her, both of them left their residence in Bode Olude, Abeokuta, on January 17. They boarded separate cabs after which they went their separate ways for work.

While she reached her workplace, her husband was still attempting to secure transportation to Kemta Oloko, where he worked.

Concerns Escalate Throughout the Day

Around 10 a.m., Mrs. Openaike attempted to contact her husband, but his phone rang unanswered.

Assuming he was occupied, she continued with her work. However, upon returning home in the evening, she discovered that Olumide had not returned, and his phone was switched off.

Colleagues at his workplace also reported being unable to reach him, raising further concerns.

Police Confirmation and Ongoing Investigation

The family promptly reported Olumide Openaike’s disappearance to the police at Bode Olude and Adatan, Abeokuta.

The Ogun State Police Command, through SP Omolola Odutola, confirmed receiving the report.

An investigation has been initiated, and the police are actively spreading awareness to locate Olumide and facilitate his reunion with his family.

Family’s Trust in Divine Intervention

Expressing deep concern and distress, Mrs. Openaike conveyed the family’s trust in divine intervention and sought the assistance of security agencies and the public to help locate her missing husband.

The community remains on edge as the search intensifies, hoping for Olumide’s safe return.
