In a recent development, Olumide Openaike, a staff member of a Microfinance bank situated at Kemta Oloko, Abeokuta, Ogun State, who had been missing since Wednesday, January 17, has been found in Mokwa, Niger State.

Background: Disappearance and Concerns

Olumide’s sudden disappearance prompted concerns as his wife, Temitope, also employed at a microfinance bank in Onikolobo, Abeokuta, reported to the Ogun State Police Command that her husband had left for work and failed to return home.

Police Confirmation and Search Efforts

Confirming the incident, SP Omolola Odutola, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, stated that the case was reported on January 17, and efforts were underway to locate Olumide.

The police aimed to publicize the case to facilitate finding him and reuniting him with his family.

Positive Update: Olumide Found and Reunited

In a subsequent interview with PUNCH on Thursday, Temitope revealed that her husband, Olumide Openaike, had been found safe in Mokwa, Niger State.

She expressed happiness, stating that he contacted her on Tuesday afternoon, having acquired a phone from a resident in Mokwa, as his original phone had been taken by those who abducted him.

Reunion in Ibadan and Return to Abeokuta

Following the phone call, arrangements were made for Olumide’s transportation, and he reached Ibadan on Wednesday, where he spent the night.

His family members were present in Ibadan, and he was expected to return to Abeokuta on the following day, marking the end of the distressing episode for his family.
