Yesterday at 10.30 a.m., police descended on Cross Street in Tamworth, Staffordshire, after a man barricaded himself inside a residence and refused to leave.

“A temporary road closure remains in effect, and we are working diligently to bring the issue to a swift and safe conclusion for everyone.”

We would like to thank the surrounding people and businesses for your patience and understanding during this period.

According to residents, the man was sleeping at the Airbnb house but has since been asked to vacate.

Police have reported seeing him “hanging from a window with a crossbow” and “yelling threats.”

As the siege enters its second day, specially trained negotiators and armed police remain on the scene. According to locals, there are approximately 50 officers on the street.

A neighborhood resident who wished to remain anonymous stated, “It’s very scary stuff.” This individual who was staying there has been secured with a crossbow.

“Officers have been conversing with him, but he hasn’t moved at all; I don’t know what’s taking so long.”

Yesterday, there must have been roughly fifty police officers on the street. You can hear them yelling at each other, but whatever they are saying has not been effective thus far.

“I haven’t been able to get to my house for a full day, I stayed with friends last night, and I’ve tried to retrieve my work uniform but I can’t.”

Another resident remarked, ‘We can only hope that everything concludes in a safe manner. It’s frightening that this may occur on your doorstep, as the situation has been tense.

‘The fact that there is a man armed with a lethal weapon inside is really concerning. Typically, this is a quiet street.

However, there are now SWAT teams with firearms, police dogs, and officers swarming the area. It has been insane.’

The culprit was described by neighbors as ‘hanging from a window with a crossbow and shouting threats’ They are currently unable to reach their homes due to the temporary closure of the route.

A woman told Birmingham Live that the residence is an Airbnb where she is now residing.

She declared, “I am residing with my partner.” Only the two of us and the man are involved.

I have no information about him. His room is adjacent to ours, but I have never spoken with him.

‘All my possessions are inside. It is terrifying to think that we could have been there when this occurred.

The road is currently closed, preventing people from entering their homes.

One individual, Daniel Pratt, stated, “Finished work but can’t go into my front door because a man has a crossbow out the window and around 50 police officers are on the street.”

Another neighbor, Fiona Glover, added, ‘I was with my young child, and there were firearms, so I didn’t want to approach’
