Water restrictions implemented in various parts of eThekwini Municipality

The Municipality said this is to ensure that reservoirs have enough water and to prevent them from going empty.

“There are no set times for restrictions, they will depend on the level of the reservoir.

Other areas in the City are not being rationed as there is already constrained supply to them.”

FEMALE EMPOLOYEE GUNNED DOWN

A 36-year-old eThekwini Municipality employee was shot and killed on Saturday, 23 April.

KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) private security company, Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA), said multiple bullet casings were found near her body.

The deceased woman was employed as a supervisor for the eThekwini municipality. She was allegedly shot and killed on Old Main Road in Ottawa, KZN outside the Water and Sanitation – Roads and Stormwater Maintenance Depot.

EThekwini Municipality mayor, Mxolisi Kaunda has condemned the killing.

Kaunda urged all those who have information regarding the incident to come forward and work with police.

“We are in the grip of a disaster and this murder is something we do not need. This employee was urged with a critical responsibility of controlling our water tankers,” Kaunda said.
