Virginia court sentences man to life imprisonment after Raping a 12 year old girl

A 58-year-old man was found guilty and sentenced by the Virginia Regional Court on 25 March 2022 to life imprisonment for rape of a 12-year-old girl in September 2021 in Meloding.

The incident was reported to Meloding SAPS and a case of rape was registered for further investigation. The case was assigned to Detective Constable Pontsho Mokoena of Lejweleputswa District FCS Unit.

The Acting Provincial Commissioner of the Free State, Maj Gen Solly Lesia applauded the investigator Constable Mokoena for conducting a thorough investigation which led to the harsh sentencing.
